WHOLESALE BUYER GUIDE

Wholesale Suppliers for Amazon Sellers: What to Check Before Ordering

Do the Amazon-specific checks before paying a supplier. A genuine product can still be a bad order if you cannot sell the ASIN, the margin disappears after fees, or the paperwork does not match your account.

Account and ASIN checks

Check the exact ASIN in your own Seller Central account.

Confirm brand, category, condition, and any hazmat or expiration restrictions.

Verify UPC, model, size, color, pack count, and variation—not just the product title.

Commercial checks

Calculate landed cost using unit cost, inbound freight, prep, labeling, Amazon fees, storage, returns, and advertising.

Confirm order quantity, case pack, minimum order, lead time, cancellation terms, and shortage policy.

Use realistic sell-through and price assumptions; current Buy Box prices are not guaranteed.

Documentation checks

The invoice should identify the actual buyer, actual seller, date, products, quantities, and commercial amount.

Make sure the buyer details match the legal/business details used in the marketplace account where appropriate.

Keep payment and shipping records. Never alter a commercial document to make it appear more acceptable.

Fulfillment checks

Decide who creates the FBA shipment, supplies labels, performs prep, books freight, manages appointments, and handles rejected or damaged inventory. Put responsibilities in writing.

Questions buyers ask

Can a supplier guarantee ungating?

No. Only Amazon decides what documentation or eligibility it accepts.

Should I order before checking the ASIN?

No. Check the exact product and your account eligibility first.

What matters more than unit price?

Landed margin, documentation, authenticity, sell-through, and operational reliability.
